Daylight Savings Time Causes Potential Problems

March 11 is when daylight- saving time begins this year. Lawmakers looking to cut energy costs have extended DST to the second Sunday of March through the first Sunday of November, beginning this year. The hope is that people will be able to delay turning on the lights in the early evening, saving megawatts of energy. But the time change could throw off computers and other systems that have been programmed to make the changes in April and October.

The cause of the most recent threat is a newly discovered vulnerability in Microsoft Windows Metafile files (".wmf") that impacts how your windows handles graphics files. Attacks that exploit this weakness allow the attacker to execute commands on the victim's computer without their knowledge, compromising valuable data.
